Equity Diversity Inclusion and Belonging Statement
Enlightened Theatrics is an organization enriched by the diversity of our staff, participants, and patrons. It is Enlightened Theatrics’ policy to ensure that no person shall be discriminated against. We find that such discrimination poses a threat to the health, safety, and general welfare of our staff, participants, and patrons, and menaces the institutions and foundations of our internal and external communities. Theatre is an extremely personal art form and it is imperative that all participants, especially communities who have been historically marginalized, are respected and honored. Enlightened Theatrics acknowledges that it is our duty and privilege to provide space and opportunities for these communities on and off the stage. To ensure all constituents of Enlightened Theatrics are heard, safe, and welcome, it is our objective to facilitate an anti-racist and anti-discriminatory open dialogue in all of our spaces. Enlightened Theatrics also acknowledges and honors the Native peoples who inhabited the land we perform on, specifically the Kalapuya Tribe.
Enlightened Theatrics values creative casting. Theatre serves as a testament of our shared humanity, and we are determined to create space for artists of all histories, backgrounds, and life experiences. Enlightened acknowledges that many theatrical works are written from varied perspectives, however, we believe theatre belongs to all and strive to embody that within our productions.
We encourage actors and designers to submit for any project they are interested in working on. All projects are open to persons of any race, ethnicity, size, ability, gender, sexual orientation, and age.
Character attributes will only be listed when specific to the story. Otherwise, we encourage submissions from all actors for any role they connect with.
Your time and effort mean a great deal to us, and we thank you for considering Enlightened Theatrics as a safe space to work and collaborate.
