Annie Auditions

Enlightened Theatrics is thrilled to announce the production of Annie!

Our educational initiative aims to help students find further development as young professionals in the industry by providing guidance and support prior to auditioning for their next step in their theatre education.

Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including "Tomorrow."

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations... and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt! She finds a new home and family in billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

We encourage our students to show off their best self by coming with a prepared audition of one 30-60 second song in the style of the show. Please make sure that the song choice is appropriate for your age, vocal range, and performance ability. No monologue is necessary for the Annie audition. If this is your first show, or you aren’t sure how to prepare an audition, don’t worry! Singing “Happy Birthday” will be just fine.
A full list of safety regulations will be posted soon, but some of the highlights are: - Participants are required to wear a mask or face covering. - Enlightened will provide masks to students who do not have access to them. - All participants will have access to hand sanitizer, hand-washing stations, tissues, and appropriate garbage receptacles. - According to the Public Health Division, children of any age should not wear a mask or face covering if they have a medical condition that makes it hard for them to breathe. - If a student becomes sick (develops a new cough, stomach ache, fever) during camp hours, they will be taken to a private room with a supervisor until their parent/guardian can pick them up.
