Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the cost of camp?
A: The teen camp costs $395. Payment is due in full at the time of registration unless you are filling out a scholarship application. To do this, please select the Teen Camp Scholarship option when registering.
There are a limited number of scholarships available. For those wishing to apply for a scholarship, a $20 deposit is required to hold your spot in camp. If you are granted a scholarship two more payments will be due: $20 in June and $10 in July prior to the start of camp, for a total of $50. The remaining $345 will be covered by the scholarship.
In the event that you are not granted a scholarship, your $20 deposit will be refunded.
Q: Does my student need any prior experience?
A: No! We welcome students of all levels and experiences.
Q: My student would like to participate in camp but will need to miss some of the rehearsal days. Can they still register?
A: Due to the condensed nature of this rehearsal process, it is important to have students present for the majority of camp, however they may be excused for up to 3 days of camp that are preapproved at the time of registration. All students must be available during the first three days of camp (for audition purposes) and for ALL performances. The cost of camp will not be adjusted for students who miss camp days.
Q: Is everyone who registers for camp guaranteed a role in the show?
A: Yes! The first two days of camp will be spent running the students through an audition process. They will be asked to sing a small selection from the show, read various roles in scenes, and learn and perform a short dance routine. We will use this process to assign roles to all of the students.
Q: Where do camp rehearsals take place?
A: The first three weeks of camp (August 3-21) will take place at a downtown location TBA. The final week of camp and all four performances (August 24-30) will take place at Salem’s Historic Grand Theatre.
Q: What should my student wear to camp each day?
A: Comfortable clothes, such as athletic wear, that are easy to move in and close toed tennis shoes. If your student has dance shows (jazz flats, sneakers, character shoes) they may wear those instead. Please make sure all clothing covers the body, even when dancing, lifting arms above your head, etc. Students with long hair should bring something to tie their hair up with.
Q: Will lunch be provided?
A: No, campers will be responsible for bringing their own lunch each day. Campers will not be allowed to leave the rehearsal space to purchase lunch on their lunch break.
Q: Will my camper need to provide anything for the performances?
A: Your camper will need to provide their own shoes and may be asked to provide some simple costumes pieces, such as plain black pants or leggings and a specific colored t-shirt.
Q: What is your refund policy?
A: Payments for camp are refundable, minus a deposit amount of $50, up to 14 days prior to the start of camp. There are no refunds within 14 days of the start of camp.
